WHAT IS DEPRESSION?
Everybody gets "the blues," but serious depression is a lot more common than most people think. One out of four women will have a classic, major depressive episode at some point in their lives. This CD examines the spectrum of depression - from normal "blues" to major disorder, which is debilitating and life-threatening.
What is the experience of depression? What does it look like? What does it feel like? At what point should we become concerned? The argument is made that depression - at all levels of severity - is a negative, altered state of consciousness. Although symptoms may vary in duration and intensity, depression involves specific changes in how we experience the world, our body, and ourselves. How depression distorts our mood, perceptions, bodily functioning, and thinking is discussed.
